EUROPEAN UNION MUST ASSUME ITS ELEMENTARY PRINCIPLES TO GUARANTEE THE PEACE OF THE VENEZUELAN PEOPLE

More than 80 organizations that gathered the European Network of Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution reject  the position of the European Union, to support the coup in Venezuela, as well as repudiate the pronouncements of some countries that make it publicly acknowledged, the recognition of Juan Guaidó as interim president, for a process of transition, in Venezuela.

We want to reiterate the fact, that this violates Venezuelan laws and also international law.      These actions demonstrate, a submission to the interests of the United States that, has been at the instigator of this coup, that is unfolding  in Venezuela, as well as the international pressure to try to bring down the Bolivarian Government, and drown the Venezuelan people by the coercive measures that have been imposed on this South American Nation.

This also shows how the situation in Venezuela has led to bringing the European Union to positions that violate the basic principles of international relations, and of diplomacy.  As stated in its principles and constitutional framework for the European Union’s external action, it should ensure:

·         `the promotion and consolidation of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and international law.

·          the maintenance of peace and the prevention of conflicts, seeking greater international security and within the framework of the Charter of the United Nations Organization. ‘

·         In this regard, we demand that the European Union respect its principles.

·        Apply the principle of legality, non-interference in the internal affairs of another country, respecting international law, and the Charter of the United Nations, as well as, assume positions that promote dialogue and peace in Venezuela to avoid any circumstance that may lead to clashes to the Venezuelan population.

Finally, we demand that this Institution must assume positions, such as that of Mexico, Uruguay, the Pope and the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Gutierres,  which show that there may be intermediation initiatives that contribute to mediate for the good solution of their conflicts.

NO TO THE COUP OF STATE IN VENEZUELA!

RESPECT TO THE SOVEREIGNTY OF VENEZUELA!

NOT TO THE WAR!

FOR DIALOGUE AND PEACE
